Tupper Lake's annual Woodsmen’s Days Saturday and Sunday at Municipal Park

TUPPER LAKE – The 30th annual Tupper Lake Woodsmen’s Days will be held Saturday and Sunday July 9 and 10 at the Tupper Lake Municipal Park.

Lumberjack and lady jack events, heavy equipment contests, the Adirondacks’ largest horse-pull, and chain saw carvings as well as a wide range of games and contests for the entire family will be featured.

Friday at 6:30 p.m., the public is invited to join with the woodsmen, heavy equipment operators and representatives of the woods industry at a new event, a less formal barbecue in the municipal park. Live music by Movin' On will be playing from 8 to 11 p.m. Reservations are encouraged by calling 518-359-9444.

The price for the meal is $20 for adults, 410 for kids ages 5-11, and $5 to just listen to the band.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday with a parade winding through the business district to the municipal park.

Starting at noon, contests will run throughout the afternoon at the municipal park, including open and modified chain sawing (four classes), cross-cut and buck-saw matches, log rolling, axe throwing, human log skidding, tree felling and horizontal log chop.

Vendors and heavy equipment dealers will be on hand. Games and contests, as well as a varied menu of food and refreshments will also be offered both days.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, youngsters compete in their very own games. At approximately 7:30 p.m., men and women team up in various competitions including the popular tug-of-war and grease pole climb (also open to women).

At noon Sunday, the horse pull will kick off the afternoon. At 1 p.m., contestants compete in the skidding and truck driving competitions.
