OGDENSBURG -- The fifth annual North Country Wine, Beer & Food Festival will be Saturday Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11 in Lockwood Arena.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

All vendors are from within the state, with “probably 85 to 90 percent within a few miles of Ogdensburg,” according to Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chamber of Commerce Sandra Porter. “This is a Pride of New York event.”

“We try to focus on local vendors as much as possible,” she said.

Wines, craft brewed beer, specialty foods, flavored olive oils and vinegar, hand crafted chocolates, baked goods, farm fresh cheese, beef, honey, maple products, specialty sauces, spices, and vinegars will available for sampling. Many items will be “stuff we can’t find around here,” Porter said.

The St. Lawrence County Brewing Company will attend this year, and a lot of cheese vendors are expected to attend. Flatiron Cookery will share shish-kabobs wood fire cooked on an iron griddle, Porter said.

There will be a few artisan vendors, but the festival mainly focuses on food, wine, and craft brews, according to Porter.

Most of the vendors will serve appetizer sized portions “so you can try everything,” Porter said.

“It’s fun, just a different event,” Porter said. “Something different for the North Country.”

“It’s a relaxed atmosphere,” she said. “Not über crowded.”

A “market basket” raffle will be offered.

The $5 adult admission includes a free glass of wine, and children under 12 will be admitted free. Guests with current military ID will pay $4.

New vendors will include Adirondack Winery, Bella Brook Vineyards, St. Lawrence Brewing Company, Brooklyn Lager, The Spicy Wench, North Croghan Outpost, Rayz International, St. Lawrence Slates, Gracious Friends Animal Sanctuary, Flatiron Cookery, and Dirty Gringo.

Returning vendors will include Coyote Moon Vineyards, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, High Peaks Winery, River Myst Winery, Otter Creek Winery, Americana Vineyard, Thousand Islands Winery, Tug Hill Vineyards, Venditti Vineyards, Saranac Brewing Company, Lake Placid Brewing Company, Dundee Craft Brewed and Uncle Jim’s Backwoods Goods. Also, Rome Grown Garlic, Grass River B Ranch, Nor Your Average Cookie, Palentine Cheese, Cosimano e Ferrari, Baldwin Hill Farms, Outhouse Farms, Bittersweet Farm, C.L. Cook Farm, R.&J. Finds, Twisted by Choice, Ogdensburg Command Performance, Eye Candy, and Cheesecake on a Stick.
