Tri-Town Festival on through Sunday with dozens of entertainment, sports, music events

The annual Tri-Town Festival continues today with a variety of new and classic events, games and performers.

This year the Tri-Town Festival committee will celebrate the 2012 Olympic games by using the event as the theme for the festival.

Parade participants will bring floats based on different countries and many of the games and activities will pay homage to the spirit of the Olympics as well.

Whether you prefer sports and recreation or chicken barbecue and frog jumping contests, the Tri Town Festival will have something for everyone.

A list of the scheduled events follows:

• Friday, Aug. 3

6 a.m.- 6 p.m. - Sidewalk Art Contest at Rescue Squad to Pit Stop Pub

8:30 a.m. - Youth Golf Event at Meadowbrook Golf Club Contact: Mickey Locke 389-4562

10:30 a.m. - Stories in the Park at Brasher Park

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Hayride at Lion's Club Ice Cream Social at the playground

11 a.m. - Brasher Forest Trail Ride at NYSDEC Station. All bikers must wear helmets.

1 to 4 p.m. - Model Airplanes at Kelsey Aerodrome

4 to 6 p.m. - Chicken barbecue at Knights of Columbus

6 to 8 p.m. - Two-Man Decathalon at SLC Athletic Fields. Contact: Jodi White at 250-1882

6 p.m. - Class of '87 Reunion American Legion

7 to 9 p.m. - NEW Torch/Baton Relay Lawrence/Stockholm/Brasher SLC Athletes from all three towns will carry/pass a baton ending at the start of the fireworks.

8 to 9 p.m. 2011 Summer Fest Slide Show side of Bus Garage

9 to p.m. - Grand Marshal, Parade Marshals and Fireworks Bus Garage Live music by Chris Whalen.

• Saturday, Aug. 4

8 a.m. - 5K Walk/Run at the arena $15 registration fee for first 100 participants. 100 percent of proceeds benefit children in our community. Contact: Kim Hill 764-8860 or Michelle Gauthier 769-7660

9 a.m. - Frog Jumping Contest arena. All participants must bring a frog. Contact: Katie and Rich Seidel at 389-5979.

9 a.m. - Getting It Done Obstacle Challenge arena. This is a new event is geared toward those children with disabilities. Meets every person's ability. Wheelchairs, crutches, hearing, and sight impaired as well as other challenges accommodated. Friendly obstacle styled competition. Opportunity to encourage physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participation. Come out and cheer them on. Contact: Ryan White at 250-1881.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. NEW Photo Booth at the Arena. Get a photo of you and family or friends in a photo booth. One free ticket with carnival entry purchase. $1 per session afterwards.

10 a.m. - Parade Line Up at St. Lawrence Central. Contact: Julia Rose 705-4437

10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. - Carnival of Fun at the arena.

11 a.m. - "Celebrate the Olympic Spirit" Parade from SLC to Agway Entries limited to 3 per country first come first served. To reserve your country use our website contact form. Contact: Julia Rose 705-4437

1-2 p.m. - Country Cloggers at LBSH.

1-3 p.m. - Co-ed beach volleyball behind the arena. Contact: Stephanie Toomey 705-5791

2 p.m. - Ice Cream & Pizza & Hot Dog Eating Contest (Primabella's) 6 years and under will be eating Ice Cream $25 for first place, $10 for second place, $5 for third place. 7-13 years old will be eating pizza $50 for 1st place and $25 for 2nd place. 14yrs & up will be eating Hot Dogs $100 for 1st place and $50 for 2nd place. 1-3 p.m. - Johnny Shack Band at LBSH.

2-5 p.m. - Wine Tasting (Spirits of Downtown) Must be 21 to participate. High Peaks Winery will be providing free samples. Come support SLC alumnus, Matt Whalen, in his wine making venture.

3 p.m. - Blind Tricycle Rally (Brasher Town Hall) One driver is blind folded and the "co-pilot" gives directions to navigate the course. Contact: Allen Fukes 389-5442

4 p.m. - Duck/Turtle Race (Riverside Campgrounds) Be sure to buy your duck or turtle before they are launched. Proceeds benefit Tri-Town Minor Hockey. Call Chris Rose at 705-4437 for ticket information.

5 p.m. - Kickball Tournament at the arena Co-ed only. Each team must pick a country and dress/make flag. $5/player entry fee. Contact: Ryan White at 250-1881.

5 p.m. - Steak Dinner at Brasher Winthrop Fire Department.

6 p.m. - Girls, Guns & Glory band and Class of '82 & '87 reunions at Riverview

9:30 p.m. - Outdoor Movie at SLC Football Field Bring a lawn chair or blanket to watch a local Olympian hockey story on the big screen. Bug spray not provided. Popcorn and drinks will be on sale. Proceeds benefit the Summer Festial.

• Sunday, August 5

11 a.m.-12 p.m. - Fishing Derby at Tower Pond. Free fishing for prizes for those children ages 1 to 15 years old. No lures allowed. Must catch and release. Contact: Chuck Collins

1 p.m. - SLC Lacrosse Alumni Game at St. Lawrence Central. Contact: Chris Rose 705-4437

1-4 p.m. Old Time Fiddlers at LBSH

1 p.m. - Chicken BBQ & Lawn Mower Races at North Lawrence Park
