COLTON -- The Colton Historical Society will hold its annual tree lighting event Friday, Dec. 5.
This year the outside lighting will begin at Three Falls Park in the hamlet of South Colton at 6 p.m. where many holiday remembrance trees will be installed and decorated by then.
The event then moves to Main Street where the traditional lighting of the society’s gazebo and the town’s tree will occur along with the lighting of more remembrance trees around 6:30 p.m.
The town’s Tourism & Beautification Committee has joined with the Society to include the Holiday Remembrance Trees in the annual event.
Following the lightings at Three Falls Park and along Main Street the names of those being remembered will be read in the Town Hall while refreshments are served.
Refreshments will include cider and cookies provided.
The Colton Historical Society and town will keep the lights on through Winterfest Weekend.
Residents and businesses in town also are encouraged to brighten the winter nights by keeping their own festive lights on too. Info: Cynthia Hennessy 262-2524.
