Traveling 'Domiciles Project' art exhibit to make stops at Clifton-Fine, Gouverneur, Ogdensburg schools

Alan Tuttle’s “The Domiciles Project” features old doors mounted on stands with a different vignette painted on each side.

The public art project now includes 13 double-sided doors. Tuttle hopes it one day will grow to 50.

He uses a technique he says he discovered by accident a few years ago. The finished product resembles a paint spill with the image contained within the spill-shaped borders.

He says the images show “scenes from life as it might have been lived behind the door.”

Students will observe the paintings as part of in-class lessons.

The public is invited to the showings.

The exhibit will be at Clifton-Fine Central May 5 and 6, Gouverneur Central May 9 and at Ogdensburg Free Academy May 18 to 20. May 18 will be in conjunction with Ogdensburg Command Performance.

Times are to-be-determined.

Call one of the schools for more information.
