Transformations in Turkey subject of presentation at Congregation Beth El in Potsdam Oct. 30

POTSDAM – Howard Eissenstat will present “Turkey and the Arab-Spring: Transformation and New Dynamics in the Contemporary Middle East,” Sunday, Oct. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Congregation Beth El, 81 Market St. Refreshments will be served.

Eissenstat, assistant professor of Middle East History at St. Lawrence University, will discuss the rise of Turkey as a regional power and its increased prominence since the "Arab Uprisings" began in 2010. He will also touch on the souring of Turkish relations with Israel and Turkey's relations with the U.S.
