POTSDAM -- Today is the last day to pre-register for SUNY Potsdam’s 10th Annual Shamrock 5K Walk/Run Thursday, presented by SUNY Potsdam Intramurals/Recreation and the SUNY Potsdam Fitness Center

The annual race starts at the Maxcy Hall Athletic Complex ramp. Walkers leave at 4:15 p.m., and runners start at 4:30 p.m.

Registration is free to all SUNY Potsdam students with a valid ID, and there is a pre-registration fee of $15 or a race day registration fee of $20 for all others. The first 200 registrants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt, and prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers.

“We’re excited for the tenth running of this race. It was originally planned to provide our students a healthy, proactive way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day,” said Fitness Center Director Tanya Hewitt, who directs the race along with Bill Beauchamp. “We’ve grown from 40 runners that first snowy day to over 200 participants annually. It’s a great event that is well attended by both our students and Potsdam community,” Hewitt said.

The Shamrock Run is sponsored by SUNY Potsdam intramurals, the Shane T. Shaul Fitness Center, Victory Promotions, SUNY Potsdam Athletics and MVP Sports.
