POTSDAM -- The Orchestra of Northern New York will open its 2017-2018 season with a “Brahms & Beethoven” performance Saturday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam.
The program includes the orchestra’s performance of Mozart’s “Overture to The Marriage of Figaro,” Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme by Haydn,” and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 3 (Sinfonia Eroica).”
“Our season begins with one of the most popular and sparkling overtures of all time! Our journey continues through beautiful European landscapes as Haydn’s elegance and purity are blended with the nobility and grandeur of Brahms’ late nineteenth century. By contrast, Beethoven’s powerful and colossal Symphony No. 3 is one of the most provocative works of its time, a masterpiece for the ages that changed the course of music forever,” said the Orchestra’s web site.
Kenneth Andrews will the conductor for the performance.
Tickets are $23 for all seating.
