'Telling Family Stories' workshop for kids June 12 in Canton
Monday, June 7, 2010 - 2:48 pm

CANTON – Children ages 7 to 10 are invited to a free workshop on Telling Family Stories on Saturday, June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Traditional Arts of Upstate New York (TAUNY) Center.

Helen Condon of Parishville will teach children how to interview their parents and grandparents to learn more about their family history; she will also teach them the basics of good storytelling so they can share these stories.

Helen will tell stories to the children, explain how those stories became part of her repertoire, and instruct participants in how to develop their own repertoire.

The storytelling program is part of a series of free Saturday morning workshops for children made possible by a grant from Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Inc., with assistance from Pepsi Cola North America, and generous underwriting support from Rick and Louanne Moser of Massena.

The center is located at 53 Main St., Canton. To register your child, please call TAUNY at 386-4289 or email info@tauny.org. For more information, visit www.TAUNY.org.
