POTSDAM – The third annual Garrett Phillips Memorial Kickball Tournament, set for March 1 at the Potsdam Moose Lodge, has slots for 24 team that they hope to fill by Feb. 8.
There will be lots of prizes, music from at least four bands, a silent auction, raffles and more.
Teams of 12 to 18 players, all over 18 years old, are eligible. Registration is $180 up to 12 players plus $15 per extra player. The fee includes t-shirts and food for team members.
There will be team prizes for tournament winners, best team name, and “best-dressed” team in costumes.
“It’s a lot of fun to watch,” said Tandy Collins, Garrett Phillips’ mother and tournament organizer. “Everybody’s slipping in the snow – it gets pretty comical.”
Registration forms can be found at many area businesses, or call Tandy Collins, 212-4025, or Deb Thomas, 244-9196, for forms or more info.
All the funds raised go to the Garrett Phillips Memorial Fund, a scholarship fund in memory of Garrett John Phillips, a well liked Potsdam middle school student who was killed in October 2011 by an unknown assailant in the Market Street apartment he lived in with his mother.
The fund aids school programs, organizations and students in the A.A. Kingston Middle School and Potsdam High School.
