POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence Valley Teachers’ Learning Center will offer several classes including a substitute teacher training program Oct. 13 at 108 Satterlee Hall, SUNY Potsdam.
The six-hour training is designed for individuals interested in becoming a substitute teacher. Topics include application process, expectations, classroom management, navigating the classroom and lesson plans, safety, routines, consistency, anti-bullying, effective communication with students and teachers and more.
Other programs include “What Great Teachers Do Differently: 17 Things That Matter Most,” Sept. 29;
“Never Work Harder Than Your Students and Other Principles of Great Teaching,” Oct. 6; “Literacy and Movement - Increase Fluency, Decoding and the Love of Reading,” Oct. 21; “Math and Movement,” Oct. 22.
