CANTON – During November and December, TAUNY’s North Country Folkstore will offer a Meet the Artist series.
A selection of Folkstore artists and craftspeople will be in house on Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. to demonstrate and talk about their work and answer visitors’ questions.
The series will kick off Saturday, Nov. 5, with a focus on rug hooking. Kim Schneider learned traditional rug hooking from five women, all in their 80s and 90s, who were thrilled that a “youngster” was interested. She has been hooking for 22 years and has made nearly 100 rugs.
Looking ahead in the series: Nov. 12, Jack Taylor, woodworker; Nov. 19, Wayne Brown, iron sculptor; Dec. 3, Tom French, author of River Views: A History of the Thousand Islands in 3-D; Dec. 17, Melanie Kimbler, quilter. For a complete listing check the TAUNY website.
