CHIPPEWA BAY -- Tas Cru and Mary Anne Casale will perform Friday, July 14, at the Chippewa Bay Community Club's weekly concert from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The performance will take place in the backyard of the one-room schoolhouse at 1172 County Route 6.

This duo performs acoustically and their repertoire includes music heard regularly on "Blues" radio nationwide. They have entertained in many venues, locally and regionally, large and small.

Tas Cru has become a renowned songwriter and performer of blues across the country and has received wide praise for his songwriting.

“His songs are blues poetry - crafted with rare verbal flair and his ability to cast a memorable hook is magical!” writes Downbeat magazine. Living Blues magazine says, “The vivacity and sheer joy with which Cru plays is intoxicating!”

Cru’s 2015 album, “You Keep the Money,” was either at or near the very top of every major blues chart throughout most of that year.

His new CD, “Simmered & Stewed” was released last year and has earned acclaim nationwide.

Born on Long Island, Mary Ann Casale started playing music at a young age with strong jazz and blues influences learned from her uncle who taught her how to play guitar.

She then started playing in the college coffeehouse scene on Long Island and through most of New York State and Colorado as a solo performer and as a vocalist in a number of small bands in the mid 1970s.

Then after an almost 30-year hiatus, she started writing and performing again.

In February 2014 she released her first album “Running Out of Time” and in March 2016, “Restless Heart” was released.

She lives in the North Country and performs locally in Northern New York and in the northeast.
