CANTON -- Michael D. Thomas, assistant professor of economics, Utah State University will address paternalism in economics at St. Lawrence University Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hepburn Auditorium, 23 Romoda Dr.
Paternalism is an old idea, but it has found new favor as society discovers more so-called mistakes which could benefit from correction. Thomas will explore both the intended and unintended effects of policy and explore the evolving theory of intervention.
The presentation is sponsored by St. Lawrence University's Department of Economics Visiting Speaker Series in Political Economy.
