POTSDAM -- Syracuse’s Central Winds, no celebrating its 30th anniversary, will perform a free concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 in SUNY Potsdam’s Hosmer Hall..
Directed by James Tapia, the band will open with Andrew Boysen’s “Frenzy,” described as “an explosive, thrilling, non-stop adventure.”
Other works will include music from the film “Schindler's List” composed by John Williams and Ron Nelson’s “Passacaglia,” which was the first piece to win all of the three major wind band composition prizes during one period.
To end the program, the Central Winds will perform one of the best-known compositions in the Band literature, Percy Grainger’s “Lincolnshire Posy.”
The Central Winds plays as guests of the Northern Symphonic Winds.
The public is invited.
