CRANBERRY LAKE -- Gene LaLonde, survivalist, will discuss “Surviving Unexpected Emergencies,” Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Clifton Community Library.
LaLonde, a survivalist who lives off the grid in northern New York, has recently written a novel, “A Question of Survival” about surviving after an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the United States.
The presentation will address survival issues related to a variety of potential emergencies including winter weather and travel, and loss of electrical power should the power grid fail.
Among topics covered will be a review of the Blizzard of ’77, the Great Ice Storm of ’98 and the Microburst of ‘95.
LaLonde will also address preparing for and surviving emergencies, items to stock, food storage, preservation, water collection and purification and medical considerations.
The event is free and open to the public.
