POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's Crane Jazz Ensemble will present their first concert of the year as they perform Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn's 1966 studio recording, "FarEast Suite," in its entirety.
Bret Zvacek, director of the Crane Jazz Ensemble, will lead the group in a performance Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.
The program includes all of the music from Ellington and Strayhorn's jazz album. The songs include, "Tourist Point of View," "Bluebird of Delhi," "Isfahan," "Depk," "Mount Harissa," "Blue Pepper," "Agra," "Amad" and "Ad Lib on Nippon."
This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.
The Crane Jazz Ensemble is the premier performance group in the jazz studies program at The Crane School of Music. The 15 musicians in the ensemble perform on saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass and drums. The Crane Jazz Ensemble is directed by Bret Zvacek.
