SUNY Potsdam hosting 'Access-Ability Day' April 14

POTSDAM -- Access-Ability Day at SUNY Potsdam will the community the chance to become familiar with services and technology available to assist individuals with disabilities on Thursday, April 14, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Barrington Student Union.

Representatives from SUNY Potsdam and other local agencies will provide information and answer questions about a wide range of services and programs for children and adults with disabilities.

There will be demonstrations of assistive technology including computer based products and daily living aids for people with mobility, learning, vision and hearing disabilities.

Lisa Tebo, Professor of Occupational Therapy at Clarkson University, will present “Occupational Therapy: Beyond the Workplace” at noon in the BSU, Room 205. This presentation will explore the ways in which OT can help people of all ages and abilities live life to the fullest.

Learn how OT promotes quality of life, health and wellness, and participation in meaningful activities through prevention, health initiatives, accommodations and therapeutic intervention.

To conclude the event, at 2 p.m., there will be a presentation in the Fireside Lounge entitled, “Overcoming Obstacles”, by John Robinson. Robinson is a motivational/inspirational speaker and Managing Partner and CEO of Our Ability, Inc. John is the subject of a national documentary shown on PBS titled “Get Off your Knees: The John Robinson Story”, based on his autobiography.
