CANTON -- SUNY Canton’s 16th professional clothing fair will be April 10 to 14 this year in Dana Hall Intramural Gym at SUNY Canton.
“The difficult economy continues in the North Country as job seekers will compete hard for too few openings. The cost of new clothing can make dressing for success an expensive proposition,” according to a press release from the college.
The fair is open to anyone looking to get a few items of clothing suitable for a job interview, student teaching, the office, or an employment upgrade, the release said.
Students can “shop” April 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The shop will open to the general public April 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and April 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Gently used” or new clothing and accessories will be available for free, thanks to donations from many North Country organizations and people.
Donations of clean, ready-to-hang gently used men’s and women’s professional clothing and accessories will be accepted April 8 to 12 at Dana Hall. On the SUNY Canton campus, bear left at the Y-intersection, turn right into the lot with the sign reading: “Dana Hall.” Drop off donations in the lobby.
The fair is offered thanks to a partnership between SUNY Canton and the St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW.
In 2003, AAUW earned a Make a Difference Day Award from USA Weekend magazine for the clothing fair, the release said.
