CANTON -- SUNY Canton will host writer Chris Fink Nov. 20 as the final guest of the Living Writers Series. Fink will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center's Kingston Theater.

He will discuss his 2013 debut novel, "Farmer's Almanac: A Work of Fiction," which is set in a rural Midwestern county.

Fink drew inspiration for the book from his upbringing on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and his work as an agricultural journalist.

The book is described as a new midwestern gothic and is a dark imaginary handbook for rural living.

Fink is a professor at Beloit College in Wisconsin, where he teaches literature, writing and journalism.

He is also the editor of the Beloit Fiction Journal.

Now in its second year, the Living Writers Series was created by assistant professor of English Phil K. LaMarche to correspond with his living writers course.

Students enrolled in the class read the books by the authors scheduled to visit the college. For more information visit www.canton.edu/writers/.
