COLTON – Sunday Rock Legacy Project will host auditions for the musical “I Love a Piano” on Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Colton-Pierrepont Central School auditorium, 4921 State Highway 56.

Irving Berlin’s “I Love a Piano” will be performed July 16, 17 and 19 in Colton. Kimberly Busch will direct the performances.

According to the Rogers and Hammerstein Library, the musical follows the journey of a piano from the turn of the 20th century to the late 1950s. It is a celebration of the music of Irving Berlin, one of America’s greatest and most prolific songwriters of the 20th century.

All of the characters are played by six actors who need to be able to sing solo and ensemble musical numbers as well as dance. The auditions includes solo singing, ensemble singing, and dancing.

There is no need to prepare music, vocal parts will be taught at the audition by Busch, and the dance sequence will be taught by the choreographer, Matt Warner of “Step It Out” dance studio in Potsdam. Ability to read music is preferred. The pit orchestra conductor for the summer performances will be Tim Savage.

The audition is open anyone 17 and older. Wear clothes you can dance in and be prepared to stay for the entire audition time.

To audition, call 265-2178 and leave a message, including name and voice range description.
