COLTON -- Sunday Rock Legacy will host auditions for the Tony Award winning musical “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Colton-Pierrepont Central School Auditorium, State Highway 56.
Interested individuals ages 16 and older should prepare 16-32 bars of a song from Broadway repertoire that best represents their vocal range.
There will be a cold read from the script. Call backs will be on May 18 between noon and 2 p.m.
The musical is about an eclectic group of six mid-pubescents who vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime.
While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, the tweens spell their way through a series of words hoping to never hear the soul crushing, pout inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.
Six spellers enter; one speller leaves. Kimberly Busch, vocal music director at Canton Central is the director for this musical event.
