DEKALB -- Summer youth swimming for kids in the town of DeKalb happens Tuesdays and Thursdays this week and next.
Children who wish to participate must have a permission slip and health slip completed and signed by a parent. These can be picked up at the DeKalb Town Clerk's Office and the Richville Village Clerk's Office and library. Children do not need to attend all sessions.
There is plenty of passenger room left on the bus. Pickups start at 11:30 in Richville at the elementary school (B.O.C.E.S. building), then HDCS (only for students participating in summer school classes), then to Hermon, then to Pipe Line Park in DeKalb (approximately 12:15) before heading to Taylor Park. The bus leaves Taylor Park at 3 p.m. and returns to Pipe Line Park, proceeds to Hermon for a drop-off before returning to Richville. There is no drop-off at the school in the afternoon.
The Town of DeKalb, Town of Hermon, Hermon DeKalb School and the Village of Richville have as a group cooperated to provide the opportunity for several years. Taylor Park has been made available by the generous cooperation of the Town of Canton. The swim program has been very popular for the residents that do not have other options.
