POTSDAM -- The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam will feature winning works by students from 12 districts across the region, with the debut of the 2016 St. Lawrence County High School Art Show.
The Roland Gibson Gallery will display artworks by students from participating districts, including Clifton-Fine, Colton-Pierrepont, Edwards-Knox, Heuvelton, Lisbon, Madrid-Waddington, Massena, Norwood-Norfolk, Ogdensburg Free Academy, Parishville-Hopkinton, Potsdam and Salmon River high schools.
There will be an opening reception tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gibson Gallery. The exhibition will be on display through Friday, June 17. Admission to the museum is free, and the public is invited to attend.
The juror for this show is SUNY Potsdam Professor of Art F. Douglass Schatz. There will be five monetary awards and four honorable mention awards presented during the reception, including the SUNY Potsdam Art Department Award of Excellence and awards in the categories of photography, 3-D art, painting and works on paper.
Admission to the Gibson Gallery, located at Brainerd Hall, is free, and the exhibition space is handicapped-accessible. The Art Museum is open to the public from noon until 5 p.m. on Monday and Friday, from noon until 7 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday, and from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
