POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Humane Society will hold the 8th Annual Strut Your Mutt Dog Walk & Craft Show Saturday, May 6, at the Pine Street Arena.

The day kicks off with a dog walk, which offers a relaxed, family-friendly event with water stops along the way. Registration for the walk is 8:30-9:30 a.m.; the walk starts promptly at 9:30.

Eligibility for the walk is by collecting pledge donations, or just making a donation on behalf of yourself.

There are more than 50 prizes donated by local businesses for the walkers.

The craft show (free admission) at the Pine Street Arena is open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Along with the walk, craft show and demonstrations, the strut includes free face painting, a themed-basket raffle, and photos with the North Country Crusaders.

Strut Your Mutt is one of the Potsdam Humane Society’s major fundraisers for the year.

Every dollar raised will help PHS care for more than 1,200 animals each year through its lifesaving programs, including adoption, cruelty investigation, emergency rescue, reuniting lost animals with their owners, humane education, low cost spay and neuter program (Project S.N.I.P), Rabies and Microchip Clinics, and the PHS Pets for Vets Program (where adoption fees are waived for active duty or military veterans).

There is no set minimum donation for the walk. Participants can either make a donation on their own behalf, or they can collect pledges from family, friends and co-workers.
