WINTHROP -- The Stockholm Historical Organization’s open house will celebrate its 35th year of serving the interests of those interested in Stockholm’s history on Oct. 5.
The organization is housed in the Stockholm Municipal Building. 607 New York 11C.
Doors will open at 1 p.m. and the fun will continue until 3 p.m. here will be a huge birthday cake, coffee and punch.
There will be a special showing of spinning wheels including one made of cast iron.
Permanent displays include a Civil War Era Parlor, a school room in a one-room schoolhouse, a general store set in the 1800s and a one room home from the early 1800s.
Many old tools and furniture items are also on display and there is a horse drawn carriage from long ago.
The organization has an extensive collection of pictures, clippings and other information in its library.
The organization holds meetings at 1 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the courtroom of the Stockholm Municipal Building.
Dues are $5 per year.
