Still time to register for Higley 100 Bike Ride on Sept. 11

SOUTH COLTON – There’s still time to register for the 7th annual Higley 100 Bike Ride on Saturday, Sept. 11. Rides start and end at Higley Flow State Park and there are 100, 50, and 20 mile options.

The cost is $30 to pre-register and $40 for same-day registration.

The "100" will start at 7:30 a.m., followed by the "50" at 9:30 a.m. and the "20" starting at 11 a.m.

Riders will leave the park and follow a mixture of rural town and county roads, as well as state highways. The rides offer some of the best scenery in the area. The area is primarily rural but does pass through several small hamlets. The routes are challenging but attractive.

Those who register before Aug. 28 can still select the commemorative shirts and hats at $10 each.

A picnic with homemade salads, cookies, and chicken sandwiches follows. A sag wagon sweeps the course and can offer some support.

The event is a fundraiser to support The Friends of Higley Flow State Park. This group does much to maintain the winter ski trails so many use at the park.
