POTSDAM -- Clarkson University hosts the Youth Energy and Environmental Expo Thursday, May 3, in the new Student Center from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

About 170 students in grades 4 through 12 will present research projects, including Local Food: Our Future, Solar Heat to Warm Your Feet, Go Green When You Clean, and A Recycling Adventure. The focus of this year's event is sustainability.

The students represent 11 school districts and two private schools. Each of the 90 projects will be judged by a panel of experts.

At about 11:15 a.m., Ken Visser, professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering at Clarkson University, will present the keynote address, the Future of Wind Energy.

An awards ceremony will take place immediately following the keynote address.

The event is free and open to the public.
