"Starlight: Revealing the Universe" will be discussed by Clarkson University professor Joshua Thomas at the next Science Café.
The café will meet in the Park View, above the Blackbird Cafe, 107 Main St., Canton, Tuesday, Feb. 26 and in the Potsdam Civic Center community room Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7:15 p.m. both nights.
Starlight allows astronomers to learn not only about what stars are made of, but also what lies between the stars and the Earth. Light from stars illuminates nebulae, such as those photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope.
By studying changes in the brightness of light in the data from the Kepler mission, astronomers have detected more than 2,000 planets around other stars.
