POTSDAM — The St. Lawrence Valley Teachers’ Learning Center is once again offering substitute teacher training workshops Feb. 4 and March 25. They will be held at SUNY Potsdam, Satterlee Hall, first floor boardroom, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch is on your own (feel free to bring a lunch or purchase on campus).
The six-hour training is designed for individuals who are interested in becoming or wish to better their role as a substitute teacher.
Topics include application process, expectations, classroom management, navigating the classroom and lesson plans, safety, routines, consistency, anti-bullying, effective communication with students and teachers, etc.
The program is free and available to anyone. For more information, or to register, contact the SLVT Center office lindena@potsdam.edu.
Registration is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. A minimum of ten participants is required.
