CANTON -- St. Lawrence University’s departments of Performance and Communication Arts and Music will present the musical “Legally Blonde” from Thursday, Nov. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 6 in Gulick Theatre, located in the Nobel Center.
Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film by the same name, Legally Blonde follows the adventures of Elle Woods, whose life is turned upside down when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard but soon struggles with peers, professors and Warner Huntington. With the help of Paulette and Emmett, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.
Music and lyrics for the musical were written by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and the libretto was written by Heather Hach.
This is the first musical St. Lawrence University has performed since 1995. The performance is being directed by Jennifer Thomas, assistant director of performance and communication arts, and choreographed by Kerri Canedy, visiting assistant professor of dance.
