St. Lawrence University to host 75 universities, institutions for Higher Education night Oct. 6

CANTON -- St. Lawrence University will host 75 universities and institutions during Higher Education Night, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Leithead Field House.

The event is an opportunity for high school students and their families to meet representatives from participating colleges and to gather information. Financial aid representatives also will be available, providing details on the application process and the various types of financial aid available.

Higher Education Night will also offer an “Ask Admissions Experts” panel discussion immediately preceding the event. The discussion, also in Leithead Field House, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 6:15 p.m.

The panel, which is intended for students in grades 9 though 11 and their parents, as well as guidance counselors, will focus on what students can do in high school to enhance their applications for admission to selective colleges. Panelists from Skidmore College, the University of Buffalo and St. Lawrence University will comment on curricular choices, summer activities, jobs, schools and community activities.

Leithead Field House is located in Augsbury Physical Education Center on Park Street in Canton.

The following institutions and organizations are scheduled to participate: Air Force ROTC at Clarkson University, Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Alfred University, Army ROTC at Clarkson University, Canisius College, Carelton University, Cazenovia College, Clarkson University, Clinton Community College, Daemen College, Elmira College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Finger Lakes School of Massage, Green Mountain College, Hamilton College, Hartwick College, Herkimer Community College and Hilbert College

Others attending include Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Houghton College, Ithaca College, Jamestown Community College, Jefferson Community College, Johnson State College, Keuka College, Lawrence Technological University, LeMoyne College, Lyndon State College, Medaille College, Mohawk Valley Community College, Nazareth College, Niagara University, North Country Community College, NYS Higher Education Services, Paul Smith’s College, Plymouth State University, Queen’s University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Roberts Wesleyan College and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Also attending will be Saint Michael’s College, Skidmore College, St. Bonaventure University, St. Elizabeth College of Nursing, St. John Fisher College, St. Lawrence University, SUNY Alfred, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Canton, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Cortland, SUNY Delhi, SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Morrisville, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Potsdam and The Clarkson School.
