CANTON -- “Oh the times they are a changing,” says the refrain to Bob Dylan’s iconic song, which will open University Chorus’s Spring Concert “Peace and Love: Songs of the 60’s.”

Two performances are scheduled, the first beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at the newly renovated Pickens Hall in Heuvelton and the second beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, at the Gunnison Chapel at St. Lawrence University. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Barb Heller, folksinger, guitarist and host of North Country Public Radio’s show “String Fever,” will be the featured artist. Other local musicians taking part include David Katz on bass and Steve Manders on percussion. Universtiy Chorus’ accompanist Sam Whitesell will play keyboards.

The program will include many great hit protest songs by such artists as Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, The Byrds, The Buffalo Springfield, Carole King, Cat Stevens and John Lennon.

Heller and University Chorus will join together singing these beloved songs, including “Turn, Turn, Turn,” “For What It’s Worth,” If I Had a Hammer,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “The Sound of Silence,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “You’ve Got A Friend,” “Peace Train,” and “Imagine.” The audience is invited to participate in a sing-along section of old time protest songs like “We Shall Not Be Moved,” “Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream,” and “We Shall Overcome.”
