CANTON -- St. Lawrence University will host a discussion on class and politics during Mississippi’s civil rights movement Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in Sykes Common Room, Park Street.

Professor Alan Draper will deliver the 2015 Frank P. Piskor Lecture, titled “Let it Shine, Let it Shine, Let it Shine: Class and Politics in the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.”

Draper’s lecture will examine the class basis of “local people” during the movement, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party delegates to the 1964 Democratic Party national convention, and black candidates in Mississippi in elections from 1965 to 1970.
