MADRID -- St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum, 1755 State Hwy. 345 will have Open House days continuing Aug. 24 with a demonstration and talk about the museum’s 40 horsepower 1922 A. B. Farquhar Steam engine.
Gary Hargrave and Bill Clinger, engineers, will conduct the demonstration at 10 a.m. and will discuss the history of the engine before and after its acquisition by the museum.
The Museum’s Collection building, Horse Drawn Equipment building, Farmhouse and many of the other buildings and displays will be available that day to view. Museum members will be available to answer questions.
Open House days will continue every second and fourth Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the end of October.
Meanwhile the museum’s Old Fashioned Harvest Days Exhibition Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, features working displays of antique engines, plowing and sawmilling demonstrations, and much more.
Gates open at 9 am. Admission is $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free.
Pure Country plays for dancing and listening Saturday night.
