CHILDWOLD -- The St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association will host their 40th anniversary extravaganza on Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Seveys Point, 8954 State Highway 3.

Guests can take a scenic ride from Sevey's Corners to Mink Brook Hunting Club across the Grasse River Railroad Bed and the Grasse River Hunting Club and back to Sevey's Point.

For young riders, snowmobiles are set up on a track with cones to navigate around so they can try snowmobiling first hand. Richards Logging donated use of their log landing.

At the Sevey's Point base, there will be lots of activities, tons of food, music and more. After a morning of hot chocolate, donuts, hot dogs, etc., a chicken Barbeque will start at 1:30 p.m. which includes a half chicken, baked beans, salt potatoes and roll for $10.

Enjoy free horse drawn sleigh rides all day. Warm up at the bonfire or in the warming building, while socializing with fellow snowmobilers.

Booths will be doing giveaways all day and Polaris will be demoing new sleds. Blevins Yamaha will have sleds on display. Colton Fire Department will have their rescue equipment on display. Playmaker Products will have a table printing t-shirts, cozies, sweatshirts and hats.

There will be giveaways, raffles and a silent auction. The Colton Fire Department will have a display.

Dinner is free to Wounded Warriors and Fort Drum Recreation Group to show gratitude for their service. We will also be giving a donation from the snowmobile association to Wounded Warriors.

Partnering with the New York State Snowmobile Association, the theme for the Extravaganza is the national program “Take a Friend Snowmobiling”.

This is all about introducing non-snowmobilers to the winter recreation. Sometimes individuals have little knowledge about snowmobiling. Taking them out for a ride and showing them how much fun it is to enjoy the scenery, go to unique places, get outdoors and have fun with family and friends, is to experience winter in a unique and wonderful way.

In keeping with the “Take a Friend Snowmobiling” theme, Fort Drum Recreation and Wounded Warriors have been invited.

It allows families to get away from the military environment and enjoy time together in the great outdoors. We believe it would do many good things for them socially and spiritually,” association officials said.
