Two Maple Weekends, March 19 and 20 and April 2 and 3 this year, will give maple producers a chance to show the public how it's done and inspire maple fans to bring some of the sweet delicacy home with them.
Dozens of maple producers throughout St. Lawrence County, some who make the syrup just for fun and those who make money at it, are hoping for a good season this spring in spite of warmer than normal temperatures. The maple weekends organized by state tourism promoters this year are not the usual two weekends in a row because of Easter, which comes between this year's maple weekend dates.
Many members of the St. Lawrence County Maple Producers will be open to guests those weekends and some will welcome visitors Easter weekend, too, with demonstrations, samples, sales, and special attractions such as pancake breakfasts and horse-drawn wagon rides into the sugarbush.
