HEUVELTON -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association will hold their 69th annual meeting at Pickens Hall, 83 N. State St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
A brief business meeting will be followed by a hot soup and sandwich luncheon at noon. Cost of lunch is $10 per person and pre-registration is required for lunch.
After lunch, a presentation on the Abbott sisters, Bessie and Jessie, will be given. Pickens hall was built by the sisters' grandfather, John Pickens, and the sisters performed together there as young women. The hall once held the town opera house, a number of shops, post office and the offices of the Heuvelton Bee newspaper.
A barn quilt painted by SLCHA trustee Pat Dominie will also be raffled off at the meeting. Tickets are currently available at the SLCHA in Canton for $1 each or 6 for $5, and will also be available at the meeting. The winner need not be present at the meeting.
The meeting is open to the public and non-members of the SLCHA.
