CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 East Main St., will honor the memory of former trustee Patricia Harrington Carson at the next free brown bag lunch Thursday, April 18 at noon.
Carson founded the lunch series during her 24 years as trustee of the association. The series will be dedicated in her honor at the April 18 lunch.
Hope Irvin Marston will speak about her book “Sackets Harbor Powder Monkey.” The book tells the tale of 11-year old Rankin McMullin, a powder boy in the Navy during the War of 1812. McMullin serves on the warship Oneida and finds himself at the first Battle of Sackets Harbor.
Marston lives in Black River with her husband, Arthur, and their dog, Heidi.
Bring a lunch, with a drink and dessert provided by the association.
