CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Historical Association. 3 East Main St., will decorate a memory tree at the museum in honor of the nearly 7,000 men from St. Lawrence County who served in the Civil War.
For $5 participants can have an ornament placed on the tree. The memory tree is part of the SLCHA’s Commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the war. For each contribution of $5, the SLCHA will make a memorial ornament to hang on the tree.
The ornament will have basic information about the veteran including name, hometown, regiment, dates served, as well as his picture, if available.
At the SLCHA’s annual Holiday Open House Dec. 6, the names of all the veterans on the tree will be read. After the holidays, participants will receive the card as a keepsake.
Duplicate ornaments are available for $5. Application forms are available at 3 East Main St. or by contacting info@slcha.org.
