Historical Association celebrates 100th birthday of Norfolk native who served as U.S. Attorney General, Secretary of State

NORFOLK -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s 66th annual meeting will feature a presentation honoring the 100th birthday of former Norfolk native William Rogers on Nov. 2.

Rogers served as Secretary of State from 1969 to 1973 under Pres. Richard Nixon and as Attorney General from 1957 to 1961 under Pres. Dwight Eisenhower.

Events will be held at the United Methodist Church, 11Main St. A short business meeting at 11 a.m. will be followed by a chicken and biscuit lunch at noon.

The group will them move down to the Town of Norfolk Museum, 42 West Main St., at about 1 p.m.

Lunch is $9 and registration is required.

Attendees can  tour the museum where Norfolk’s town historian Leon Burnap will answer questions about the town’s history.

There will be a raffle drawing for a watercolor painting by Colton native Leon LeBeau. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and will be available at the meeting.
