POTSDAM -- The Health Initiative is offering a free 16-week diabetes prevention program beginning Sept. 11 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Potsdam Town Hall conference room.
The class is open to adults diagnosed with pre-diabetes or those at high risk for pre-diabetes.
The program will encourage participants to lose seven percent of their body weight, keep it off, and become more physically active.
Topics will include calorie counting, monitoring fat gram intake, smart dining out choices, label reading, meal planning, resisting temptation and ways to increase daily activity.
Linda Caamaño is a trained wellness coach and will facilite the classes.
