CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Dairy Promotion Committee is seeking candidates to serve as dairy princess, princess alternates and dairy ambassadors in the upcoming year.

An information night will be held Thursday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm.

Single young women age 16 to 21 with a dairy background or a connection to the dairy industry may apply.

Girls from age 13 to 15 years of age are eligible for the Dairy Ambassador Program. The program is designed to compliment, educate and train future princess candidates.

The new dairy princess will be crowned Friday, April 26 at the pageant.

The new dairy court will also appear in the annual parade June 1.

The 2013-2014 dairy court will promote the dairy industry through a variety of speaking engagements and appearances at schools, civic groups and the media.

In addition, the dairy court will represent the dairy industry in parades and at local fairs and festivals.

The dairy princess will also have the opportunity to attend a training seminar to learn more about dairy promotion, public speaking and interacting with the public.
