Cornell Cooperative Extension, 2043B State Highway 68 in Canton is planning a “Beef Quality Assistance in a Day” training on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m.
Beef Quality Assurance is a national program that provides training to beef cattle producers in food safety, proper cattle handling techniques, handling of animal health products, injection sites, and record keeping.
“The goal is to maximize consumer confidence and acceptance of beef by focusing the producer's attention to daily production practices that influence the safety, wholesomeness, and quality of beef and beef products,” according to CCE.
The program starts with a classroom session with time available for the test.
The class will then relocate to Windy Hill Angus on the Sisson Rd. in Potsdam for the chute side portion of the training.
The event should wrap up by 1 p.m.
Amy Thompson will teach the chute side portion of the class.
The cost is $10 per farm, which includes a BQA manual.
Registration is preferred.
Space is limited.
