St. Lawrence County Chamber's non-profit conference Wednesday in Canton

CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual non-profit conference on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Best Western University Inn.

The conference will feature notable guest speakers and is geared towards nonprofit leaders and board members.

This year's conference will start with a welcome by Northern New York Community Foundation.

Next will be an overview on non-profit compliance discussing board requirements, minutes, by laws, auditing, etc., presented by Andrew Marietta, VP of Regional Devolopment, CEO of the New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON).

The New York Council of Nonprofits is the state’s association of nonprofits and has a rapidly growing membership of almost 3,400 organizations.

Angela Gray, of Gray & Gray and Associates Certified Public Accountants, P.C, will lead a session involving managing and encouraging tax deductible gifts, discussing the need-to-know's, limits, and reporting.

This session will be followed by a panel of area nonprofit leaders, providing their insights and sucesses with social media.

During a breakout networking session, Diane Leonard from DH Leonard Consulting and Grant Writing Services will facilitate a conversation on colloboration stategies and their value in grant applications.

The event is sponsored by the Northern New York Community Foundation, Gray & Gray and Associates Certified Public Accountants, P.C, and DH Leonard Consulting and Grant Writing Services, LLC.
