POTSDAM — The St. Lawrence County Arts Council will be offering the class Mapping Winter with Velma Bolyard at Snell Hall, 41 Elm St., Sunday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This class is for mature teens or adults interested in using experimental methods to trace their relationship to North Country winter and to black and white.
Participants will use inks on papers, make and use non-traditional “brushes,” and work large and small on a single sheet of paper once it is reduced to become a meander book.
Using that exercise as a starting place for additional experiments, students will make windows, stitch, add thread, and explore other methods to make marks on their meander maps.
Materials included.
The cost for members is $67; $82, for non-members.
Preregister by logging into slcartscouncil.org, or calling 315-265-6860.
