POTSDAM -- The SLC Arts Council has announced upcoming arts and music classes held in the Council's Downtown Snell Hall location at 41 Elm St.
Special Arts Integrated Elementary Music & Arts Class will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This inclusive group for 5-9 year olds with disabilities provides an opportunity for music and arts exploration in a supportive group environment. Friends and family are welcome. The class fee is $10.
Drawing Skills Weekly with Liza LaBarge will meet from 6 to 8 p.m on Monday, Sept. 12. The class is for participants ages 18 and up of beginner and intermediate level. This week's focus is on gesture drawing with a clothed model. The class fee is $25 for members and $35 for non-members and participants must bring their own supplies.
Clay Handbuilding for Ages 7-14 with Irja Bodén is an ongoing 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday series that begins on Sept. 13. Participants will explore all aspects of creating with clay using hand-building techniques and work with coils, pinch pots and slabs. Class size is limited to six students and costs $124 for members and $149 for non-members.
Special Arts Integrated Preschool Music will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. This inclusive group is for 2-5 year olds with disabilities to explore music and arts exploration in a supportive group environment. Friends and family are welcome. The class fee is $10.
Music therapist Tracy Wanamaker will lead Special Arts Adults Music and Arts from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Sept. 13. This group provides an opportunity for adults with special needs to participate in a supportive and therapeutic group activity. The class fee is $10.
Clay Handbuilding for Adults with Irja Bodén will meet from 3 to 6 p.m. for five Wednesdays beginning Sept. 14. All aspects of clay-building will be explored through hand-building techniques. Class size is limited to six students and costs $171 for members and $209 for non-members.
Special Arts for Special Needs: Massena (Ages 5-18) will meet at the Massena Community Center, 61 Beach St., from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Group members are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities including singing, movement, dancing, playing instruments, painting and more in a supportive environment. The class fee is $10.
