POTSDAM -- A woodcarving owl class will be held April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Jack Taylor at St. Lawrence County Arts Council, 41 Elm St.
The cost is $63 for members and $78 for non-members.
Students will learn how to carve a four-inch-tall butternut wood owl, step by step. Taylor will teach the four basic carving cuts, and carving tools will be available for students to use. Participants will learn to carve on a practice stick before carving the owl blank.
Taylor will demonstrate how to use wood burners to accent the carving. Glass eyes will be epoxied into the eyeholes, and every one will go home with a carving.
