POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County American Association of University Women book group will meet Oct. 9 at noon at the Potsdam Public Library.
The group will discuss “The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony That Shaped America,” by Russell Shorto. Brown bag lunches are encouraged.
Shorto uses 12,000 pages of recently found New Netherlands historical records to change the reader’s understanding of early America.
Next month’s discussion will focus on “Moon Tiger,” by Penelope Lively, Nov. 13.
