HANNAWA FALLS -- The St. Lawrence Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold a Women’s Equality Agenda Happening Hour to highlight women in the workforce.
The meeting will be April 9 at the Canoe Place Inn in honor of “Equal Pay Day” at 4:30 p.m.
AAUW will honor Clarkson University’s Sandra Fisher with the 2013 Research Award. The award is given annually to a St. Lawrence County woman who contributes significantly to academic research.
Drink specials, complimentary hors d’oeuvers and raffles will be held. Those wearing red in honor of Equal Pay Day will receive a special discount on drinks.
“We want to highlight the variety of businesses women operate in St. Lawrence County. Women are full time business owners, supplemental business owners, co-owners, and they provide a variety of goods and services to our communities. We want to give them a free forum to showcase themselves,” said AAUW branch president Jennifer Ball.
Business owners should RSVP at www.surveymonkey.com/s/equalpayday. Instructions for displays and set-up will be given when you register.
A representative from the Reh Center for Entrepenuership at Clarkson University will be present.
